Ubuntu 25.10 Wallpaper Contest Opened for Submission

Wallpaper Contest for next Ubuntu 25.10, Questing Quokka, is opened. Submit or vote your favorite images!

Like the last contest, the submissions are separated into 3 categories: Mascot Theme, Digital / Abstract Art, and Photography. And top 2 voted images (6 images in total) in each category will be included in the 25.10 as optional wallpapers.

The wallpaper submission started on July 17, and will end on August 11. All users can vote (need login with a free account) until August 18, 2025. Though not mentioned, it should be UTC time.

As usual, the AI generated artwork is NOT allowed! Because there are active legal debates on the ownership of AI generated artwork and whether it can be copyrighted or not. And, many popular AI generation tools use a license that does not align with those for the contest.

Other rules are also:

  • Submitter must own the rights to the image.
  • Full quality image must be 3840Ă—2160 px. PNG and WebP are preferable.
  • No watermark, name or logo in image.
  • image licensed as CC BY-SA 4.0 or CC BY 4.0.

Entrance of the contest:

And, here are some of the submissions so far that look great in my opinion (images below are optimized, please get them from the entrance above if you like):
