KeePass, the popular lightweight password manager application, released new 2.59 version one day ago.
The new release of this free open-source app enhanced ARM64 CPU architecture type support, introduced code optimizations, performance improvements, and some bug-fixes.
KeePass 2.59 added native support for Windows 11 24H2 and later on ARM64 devices, while it was working previously by x64 emulation.
It also added KeePassLibN library that provides native implementations of AES-KDF and Argon2 key derivation functions for Windows on x86, x86_64, and arm64 platforms.
Also for ARM64, the release added new module with import/export KDB (KeePass 1.x file format) support. And, KDB import/export now supports importing/exporting the default user-name and the database color, as well it exports root group too.
For Unix-like systems, URLs in certain views are now clickable links. And, it now supports opening URLs with Maxthon, SeaMonkey and Yandex in private mode.
Other changes include:

The official exe installer and portable zip archive for Windows are available to download in its website along with KeePass 1.x and source tarball.

For Ubuntu, besides building from source, I’ve uploaded the new release package into this unofficial PPA for Ubuntu 20.04, Ubuntu 22.04, Ubuntu 24.04 and 25.04.
Simply press Ctrl+Alt+T on keyboard to open terminal, and run the commands below one by one to add PPA & install the password manager:
sudo add-apt-repository ppa:ubuntuhandbook1/keepass2 sudo apt update sudo apt install keepass2
To uninstall the PPA package, use command:
sudo apt remove keepass2
And, remove the PPA either by running the command below in terminal:
sudo add-apt-repository ppa:ubuntuhandbook1/keepass2
Or, launch “Software & Updates” and remove the source line under Other Software tab.
